Well, the major problem is you will need an agent to
represent you. Most rap artists or record companies will not
look at anyone unless they have a theatrical/literary agent to
represent them.
The reason is that they might be afraid that you play something
and they don't like it..Some many years later the same rap artist will
release a song that is similar to what you showed them years earlier
and you sue them..The problem is that many cases like this are
thrown out by judges or won by the artists. Many don't want to be force
to defend themselves paying HUGE LEGAL bills...

Also, I STRONGLY SUGGEST you try another type of music. From
what I heard and read in the entertainment media is that rap music
is not as popular as it was years ago. It has been loosing sales in the
last 5 to six years. From what I hear 2008 was the worst year for sales
in rap music.

While others types like rock & roll and country music sells really well.
Why do you thing Hannah Montana(Miley Cyrus) and the Jonas Brothers
sell well and break a few sale records.

Another problem with rap music these days is that many rappers use
profanities and obscene language in their music which is why it
has negative impact on society.
Also, many rappers promote as positive the "violent street gang"
culture as a positive thing.
From what I heard in the entertainment news media is that rap music
is on it's way out.

I strongly suggest, try regular rock and pop music, IF you
want to make a successful career in the music field and
forget about rap music.

Unheard of producers get discovered through word of mouth. Beats get passed hand to hand.(9th Wonder).Network my brotha! You have to start with small rappers first to build up your credentials. You have to remember that they get their beats from the very best(No disrespect).
References :
Hate to tell you but you are going to have to put in a lot of work before you sell a beat to anyone much less a major recording artist. You need to build your brand.

Local artist are always looking for a good beat. You can start off by giving your beats to artist only asking for your name to be mentioned or that they pass the word that you are making beats. Soon after you get a good foothold and your name out there you can start charging. Price reasonably, $50-$70 bucks for a simple beat. if your work is worth it and you are progressively getting more hits bump up the price and insert yourself into the artist music. If they just want the beat charge them more, if they will let you on the track or give you a shout charge them less.

The name of the game is building your brand.

If you are good and lucky you will get noticed.
