Persians wanted to conquer the world. Sadly for them thaat included Greece. Due to certain Spartan politics the Spartan army wouldn’t be assembeled. Leonidas took his personal guard of 300 spartans, along with 2700 other Greeks to Thermopolyess pass where they held out against an army of 3 million for seven days. After Sparta fell …
After Sparta fell for the second time what was left of the Spartans ended up as mercenaries. They kept the Spartan way and when the Roman empire rose became the majority of the Petorian guard. When the Roman Empire fell they moved north looking for work in the wars between the Brits, French, and Scots. Eventually they moved into the newly forming nordic states. The Spartan culture had a large effect on the Viking/Nordic Warrior culture.
