Hi, I haven’t seen many live shows but was hoping to get into the music scene and was just wondering how do new artists tour off one album considering there is only maybe 10-12 songs on a album, alot of these are filler and i’m sure you need more than this to fill a 2 hour set. I thought maybe they cover other people songs to fill it up but I’m not sure, can you help?
Most bands / artists have more songs than they used on their first album, they use those. Also most bands / artists don’t headline immediately, they’ll be given a support slot (30 – 45 mins) by some bigger band.
It has always been this way.

usually when bands first come out they open for other bands before actually headlining a tour. that way they can get their music out there

Well first of all you have understand that no a days you don’t have to be the most talented person. It’s if you get in touch with the right people. Trust me i know bout the music business. Six years experience says if your gonna record an album make sure you can find a producer. Most musicians that do usually get a better quality sound. Second your gonna need a manager that has connections with record labels they worry bout most the booking after your signed. Its all about promoting yourself. Third if your gonna start touring, your gonna have to worry about being at a certain venue at a certain time with all of your equipment working correctly. Venues usually support thier own P.A. system so thats one less thing to worry about, and last but not least….. if your gonna cover a song DO IT THE RIGHT WAY! make it your own.

okay so if you are GETTING Famous you go to small gigs in restaurants and such, the smaller the album the smaller the gig right? or you can pause between songs to make it seem longer just don’t take a ridiculously large amount of time. another major thing you can do is make another band open up for you. Don’t make this band be more known because it would be like they are the ones that invited you and they get the credit. get a band that you can trust and know they will respect you
