Fiona Apple wins Best new Artist
10yrs ago in ’97 with the now “Infamous Speech” that put her on the map and Propelled her into a Cult Favorite; along with her music too ofcoarse.
Lol I don’t get why … Lol I don’t get why this speech is so “blasphemous”. She didn’t say anything rude to any individual…the industry is probably just scared of her honesty.
If anyone has read … If anyone has read up on the allegations of the music industry being controlled by the Illuminati, it seems as though she’s speaking directly against their mindcontrol… “Go with yourself…” i don’t know if it’s true but it’s certainly interesting to think about it. and to think she said this right before Britney Spears and the concept of the “boy band” hit the music industry, it’s almost as if she was warning the world.
Can we clone her? … Can we clone her? Can we ship all of the current “talent” in the music industry to a remote island and just have a bunch of Fionas running around? I LOVE her integrity! I love her character. I love everything about her. And she’s right. It terrifies me to think of who the current generation may be modeling their lives after. “This world is bullshit.” Amen.
1) She made a good … 1) She made a good point, it’s almost prophetic to the way things are now with reality shows and all that – celebrities are taking over the world and you need to have your own state of mind. 2) It’s astonishing how much the music scene has gone downwards since..Best New Artist in 1997 includes her, Hanson, and Jamiroquai, and all three are awesome (You need to hear Hanson’s new stuff, it’s amazing even though they’re not as popular as before). Best New Artist now would be Ke$ha, Katy Perry, etc
I’ve always had the … I’ve always had the utmost respect for Fiona. She has mellowed out as she has matured from this time in her life. She has mentioned recently that she was really angry at this point in her career because she felt she was being yanked around from place to place like a media puppet and she’s not that kind of commercial artist always looking for a radio hit. She’s her own individual, always going against the flow. She’s like the human version of Daria Morgendorffer from the animated MTV series.
Well I’m glad such … Well I’m glad such an artist as Fiona exists. We’re all very thankful for her musical contributions, and honest speech. Feel well Fiona.
it’s not really … it’s not really that she’s misunderstood, it’s just that she’s an artist and she does art, not business or money, nor is she a fashionista or a pretender, she just does her thing and encourage the others to be themselves. that’s what she wanted to say i guess.
I bet she said that … I bet she said that because of what someone may have thought of her about the Criminal video and also about how mainstream “stars” pretend to be cool and think they can rule the world. I bet she was happy of winning just because she wanted to have the opportunity to talk and say what she thought. And I loved “they way she wanted to use it”! =D
