Do you feel the slight bit guilty downloading music from indie artist?

LMAO @ Beast…
LMAO @ Aim…really man!

Yes, I feel guilty.
No, I’m not gonna stop.
I keep on making up these scenarios in my head where one day I become extremely wealthy and look back on all the albums I downloaded in my teen years and decide to give the artists twice as much money as the albums were worth to make up for all my illegal downloading, but it’s probly never gonna happen.

    No.

If it wasn’t for downloading, a large amount of indie artists wouldn’t have profitable careers.

Only when they mention it in the album.

ie: If they say something like "Thanks for buying my album, I love my fans" or along those lines, then I feel kinda bad.

Occasionally, but not really. I actually go off a so-called artist if they start complaining about downloading – if you think art is only for people who have the money to spend on it, then you have no business calling yourself an artist.

Most indie artists would be nowhere without downloading. Obviously, it must be understandably frustrating for musicians that things have taken this turn, but you’d have to be living under a rock not to know that’s how the industry is these days, so you have the option to either not get into it or cater to the tween/50+ can’t work a computer market if the sales are more important to you than the art.

I still support these artists by going to see their shows and by recommending their music to people, so it’s not like I don’t care about them paying the bills – which most of them can easily still do anyway.
The ones who complain are mostly complaining they can’t make private jet type money and they can kiss my ass.

Over here, CDs are really expensive. About £15 is standard, which is nearly $30. I just don’t have that kind of money to spend on every album I want. Nor am I prepared to on principle.

The way I see downloading, if you can’t afford it, don’t pay for it and if you can afford it, do.

Downloads do not = actual sales, regardless of what record labels try to tell us. If I couldn’t dl it, I wouldn’t go out and buy it – I probably just wouldn’t get to hear it.

I felt guilty once, but she woke up midway through.

Anyways…yeah definitely, but I buy the albums I really like, sometimes twice. I’ll buy it once on Itunes and if I see it on CD, I buy it again. I also buy without question from my favorite artists.

Consider this, we’re doing them a favor by spreading their music.
    It’s a win win.
