I once translated and was told to charge either $20-30 per hour or per page, can’t remember which…

Do you mean singing or playing an instrument? You have to be better than most people to stand out, and even then you have a lot of competition. The hardest part is getting the right person to hear you; someone who could help you get publicity. So far I have not been able to do that.

make your own home studio, from what I've read they're pretty well affordable now, then whatever you make you can sell on itunes I guess. This isn't a way to make a living doing music though, artists that live off music have to tour all year round.

I love music. Umm.. from what you have said i may have a few ideas for you. Um.. Linkin Park, Vennessa Carlton, Avril Lavinge, Eminem might be onthe edgefor you. An dthose are a couple i could name.
