could someone suggest some good indie music artists?

im into ida maria, bat for lashes, joanna newsum, florence and the machine, regina spektor, cold war kids, port o’brien ,babyshambles, nouvelle vague, the astroid galaxy tour so anything similar to them please :)

I think you’d like Lonely Drifter Karen. Their 2009 album got the best review I’ve ever seen of any album, from the Sunday Times (London). And it’s that good, the best of the year imho. A distant second would be Jesca Hoop’s Kismet.
Others I can recommend include Emily Haines & Soft Skeleton, Miss Li, Amiina, Kokusyoku Sumire, Szalóki Ági, Coeur de Pirate, Maria Bethania, The Ditty Bops, Lenka, Katy vs. Evil, Architecture in Helsinki, Lio, Alice in Videoland, Koop, Bitter:sweet, Maria Mena, Valerie Gore, Nu Skiffle Brigade, Lucy Schwartz, Madeleine Bloom, Zazie, Honey is Cool, Anya Marina, The Ideal Husband, Polly Scattergood, Thao Nguyen, Peggy Sue & The Pirates, Zee Avi, Inara George (Merrick, The Bird and the Bee, The Living Sisters), Double THumb, Cyrille Aimée, Gabriela Kulka, and my new favorite, Little Buddha. Also Amy Lavere is great if you like a little country twang. If you haven’t heard Pizzicato Five, I strongly recommend them. They’re an old band from the 1990s, with a sound similar to Nouvelle Vague. The lead singer just teamed up with Brazilian singer Fernanda Takai to form the new group Maki Takai. There are some cute videos of them singing and dancing on YouTube (e.g., see links), although the audio quality is low.

making indie film this year, how can I permission from artist 4 music?

Posted by admin on February 25th, 2010 and filed under indie music artist | 1 Comment »

Guys I am directing a film this year, and indie film for film festivals and I need the rights or the permission from U2, Natalie Merchant, Enya & The Cranberries. B-52’s, Peter Gabrel to use some of their songs… suggestions???? HELP!

All I can think of is contacting them through their offical personal webistes under contacting them. Some celebrities have a contact page that lists both personal and business e-mails. I’d write them using the business contact.

Know any Christian Indie Music Artists?

Or any Indie bands or anything that are just really good, they don’t have to be Christian or anything. Thanks –PMB

Check out Page France!
I would suggest their album "Hello, Dear Wind" which features songs like Chariot, Jesus, Bush, and others. Some of the best "indie" music I have ever heard.

Here is a sample….Chariot by Page France

looking for relatively unheard of indie artists. for example "tahiti 80" or "the whitest boy alive"

I don’t really know your style, but you could try The Virgins, Ra Ra Riot, MGMT, As Tall As Lions, Vampire Weekend, Athlete, VHS or Beta, and Air Traffic. Hopefully that gives you something that you like.

Do you feel the slight bit guilty downloading music from indie artist?

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2010 and filed under indie music artist | 10 Comments »

LMAO @ Beast…
LMAO @ Aim…really man!

Yes, I feel guilty.
No, I’m not gonna stop.
I keep on making up these scenarios in my head where one day I become extremely wealthy and look back on all the albums I downloaded in my teen years and decide to give the artists twice as much money as the albums were worth to make up for all my illegal downloading, but it’s probly never gonna happen.

Indie music?

Posted by admin on February 10th, 2010 and filed under indie music artist | 6 Comments »

Can anyone tell me what indie music is? I keep seeing this label thrown around and I’m not clear what it is implying. Is it a genre, a style of music? Or is it more of a description of how the music is recorded? Or even the disposition of the artist toward music? (these are all descriptions i’ve come across but they aren’t very satisfying).

indie music originally meant artists who were on independent labels, regardless of the genre
however these days, it’s more often used to describe indie pop or indie rock music – bands who play rock or pop music but are not signed by the big record companies. examples include arctic monkeys, the pixies
it can kind of be a disposition of the artist towards music; indie artists generally don’t do it to be popular and make music, but for the love of music
