I am a HUGE music fan and I mostly like modern alternative and pop. I cannot figure what indie music is. please include some examples of indie artists also.
"indie" (short for independent as in "independent record label") music is music by bands that arent signed to major record labels, and hardly get any mainstream radio airplay. It is usually rock.. but styles are very eclectic.

I am an independent artist who recently finished some original recordings. They are pretty good (in their own unique way), and I’d like to "get them out there", so to speak. I’m already on YouTube, and the search engine only got me 100 views in a week.
Where is a better place for aspiring musicians to get their works out? I’m trying to make a successful life with music… exposure seems to be what I need.

Music artists on MTV abviously look like they don’t need anymore money. So why should you give them more money? I mean if they are really "artists" they shouldnt be so concerned with selling selling selling. I’m only dow for supporting new artists and talented underground artist. for example akon was long on limewire and kazaa before he made the big time. It gives them exposure.
Who’s Akon?
People work to make money. For musicians, that’s the bottom line, although I imagine most of them also enjoy their work. While people that pirate music may be exposed to music they wouldn’t listen to otherwise, it doesn’t actually help the musician unless they buy a CD, T-shirt, or attend a concert. And if someone has already downloaded a CD, then they have no reason to buy it, so the musician is only helped by T-shirt and concert ticket sales.
Ideally, you’d download a few songs to see if a CD is worth buying, and buy it if it is good. If everyone downloaded songs illegally, then musicians have no incentive to produce more music. By pirating music, or video games, or any other media, you’re harming the creators of that media. Don’t kill the stuff you love; if you enjoy it enough, go buy a copy of the CD or video game.

I want to start listening to trance music but I don’s know of any really good artists or albums to get. I’ve listened to some Infected Mushroom on youtube but I think their album art is disturbing.
